Turkey awada mullin husband birthday

Detroit — Turkia Mullin’s brother pleaded guilty to drug conspiracy and health-care fraud charges in federal court Wednesday, two days after his sister was cleared in the Wayne County corruption investigation.

The guilty plea comes more than two years after Hussein “Sam” Awada was accused of billing dead people, stashing $1 million cash in his house, sending money to Lebanon and pocketing up to $20,000 a month in kickbacks from a recruiter who found patients to receive prescriptions for pain medications, including Oxycodone.

Awada was charged with participating in an alleged scheme involving his Warren-based offices, Midwest Family Practice.

The conspiracy charge included in the plea deal carries a 20-year felony and $1 million fine. The fraud charge is a 10-year felony.

U.S. District Judge Nancy Edmunds will sentence the Royal Oak man June 4 in federal court.
